UPDATE!! As previously posted on my HOME page, the state of California has settled a law suit against the very popular hair straightening product Brazilian Blowout. The law suit says BB emits formaldehyde gas-a possible carcinogen and known to irritate eyes, skin and lungs. New labeling will be required. “We are pleased to have this matter behind us and are confident these new practices will provide certified stylists who use our products each day and their loyal customers clarity and confidence.” -CEO Brazillian Blowout. Question is, will these findings deter you from getting this service?
BANGS OR BOTOX?
They used to say that you had to go to short hair after 40. But seeing as 50 is the new 40, the hype is Bangs or Botox. Best part, we definitely have more options these days. My personal favorite are what I call "non-commital" bangs. These are bangs that tend to be a bit on the longer side. Easily pulled back in a clip or round brushed to appear shorter like actual bangs. (Fringe, for our UK friends!) RULE OF THUMB: or bangs in this case, fringe that reaches your top lip will generally reach behind your ear. Very important to know for studying students or working folks. What's your favorite, non-surgical, wrinkle camo?
All my weekly "shampoo and set" ladies have either gone into assisted living or died. (Sob!) It has been at least 5 years since I have had my rollers out on a regular basis. Lately, I have gotten them out for myself. I towel dry clean hair, add some Curl Definer (Joico product, a wonderful light weight, creamy gel) allow to air dry about 80%. Eat breakfast, put on my makeup, and then roll my nearly dry hair on Velcro rollers. Hit it with my dryer if I am in a hurry- otherwise allow to air dry the rest of the way. Use the largest rollers possible to achieve loose waves. Very little heat and no round brushing arm strain-bonus! Remember, add and remove these rollers gently so as to not get STUCK! Let me know how this is working for you.
